Berlin is a big city and the stage for numerous events! We have put together 6 events that take place in August for you to visit and enjoy along with the summer! You can even reach some of the events with Stromma Hop On - Hop Off bus tours that will take you to a wonderful ride this August.

Berlin Leuchtet

Every year, the city and its sights such as the Brandenburg Gate are illuminated! With high-tech projectors, the Berlin Leuchtet e.V. association decorates over 70 buildings in the city center with colourful and animated projections as soon as the sun goes down. The event is perfect for families, couples or to go with friends.

Young Euro Classic

If you want to get to know the next generation of instrumentalists, then you should definitely attend the Young Euro Classic. Every year, the city welcomes numerous young musicians who play classical and modern music and define how the capital sounds during two and a half weeks. Deutscher Freundeskreis Europäische Jugendorchester e.V. is a success story since it has been focusing on the planning and development of Young Euro Classic for around 20 years. This gives young artists the opportunity to have an international stage with extraordinary programs.

Botanical night

In the evening, when the sun goes down, buildings, grounds and landmarks are illuminated and the magical botanical garden is not the exception. This year, at “The Magic of Botania”, you can find out how it all began. Everything in the different areas of the garden will be colourfully illuminated. The program including fantastic artists will ensure that the whole family has fun.

Knowledge city of Berlin: Day of action at the Rotes Rathaus

In front of the Rotes Rathaus is the open-air exhibition "Berlin City of Knowledge 2021", which deals with modern topics such as corona, climate change and coexistence. On Saturday, August 7th Scientists will present their research through live events. Research and multiple solutions for an intelligent mobility and security are presented in this open-air event.

Reopening of the National Gallery

The New National Gallery is a special building of modern architecture with its glass facade. It was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, built in the 1960s and now listed as a monument to the State of Berlin. The building itself is worth seeing.

The museum opens with the exhibition “The Art of Society” as well as art works by Rosa Barba and Alexander Calder.

Dance in August

Four weeks a year, HAU Hebbel am Ufer presents the international festival Tanz in August, one of the most important European festivals for contemporary dance. Several locations such as the Volksbühne at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, Gärten der Welt (Arena), St. Elisabeth Church among others will take part in the festival as being the perfect stage for international artists.
