Rent a Restaurant Boat

Please note: If you wish to start and/or end your trip outside the green zone, a fee of DKK 550 per pick-up or drop-off will apply.

We typically rent out covered boats, unless otherwise specified. If you choose an open boat, we will sail regardless of the weather, and switching to a covered boat on the day of the tour is not possible.

Our covered boats have a plexiglass roof over the middle and outdoor seating at the front and rear. On good weather days, the windows can be pushed up to open the sides.

As long as the water level allows, we can sail to most areas of Copenhagen's inner harbor. Our Classic Canal Tour route covers Inderhavnen (Copenhagen Harbor), The Little Mermaid, Christianshavn Canal, and Frederiksholm Canal, taking about one hour.

For a two-hour tour, we also include the northern and southern parts of the harbor (Nordhavn and Sydhavnen). If you have special route requests, let us know when booking, or arrange with the captain on the day of the tour. However, if the route is decided on the day, we cannot guarantee the guide will be able to provide commentary outside of the standard sightseeing route.

Please note, canal boats are not allowed in open waters, so trips to areas like Trekroner Fortress, Slusen, Tuborg Harbor, Kastrup, or Oceankaj are not possible.

The boat rental includes a captain and a tour guide.

What languages does the guide speak?
All our guides speak Danish and English. We can offer other languages (German, French, Spanish, or Italian) at an additional cost of DKK 1,000 per hour.

We don't want a guided tour; does that lower the price?
The tour guides are a legally required part of the boat's crew and will therefore always be on board. If you do not want a guided tour, the guide will simply sail with you as crew/security staff. The boat rental costs the same, regardless of whether the tour is guided or not.

The canal boats are relatively large and can accommodate between 133 and 150 people (76-104 in the winter, as everyone must be seated inside).

If you are a group of up to 12 people, you can book a private tour on our small electric boat, Hygge. Hygge can be booked at specific times, always starting and ending at Ved Stranden.

Yes, it's possible to rent a boat year-round. Our rental boats are covered and heated, making them the perfect option even during the colder months.

Boat rental is available 24/7.

From 21:00 to midnight, a 50% surcharge on the boat rental rate will apply per hour.
From midnight to 07:00, rental is available upon request.

The minimum charge for any tour is always for one hour of boat rental, even for shorter transportation trips.

After the first hour, which is the minimum rental price, the boat can be rented in 15-minute increments. For example, 1 hour and 15 minutes, 1 hour and 30 minutes, etc.

Yes, it is possible to pre-order drinks, breakfast, sandwiches, light snacks, or a full lunch or evening meal for the trip. See our catering options and prices on the catering list. All items ordered will be invoiced.

If you do not consume everything during the trip, you are of course welcome to take the leftovers with you.

Yes, our catering partners can accommodate common allergies and dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, as well as nut and seafood allergies.

We must receive the catering order no later than 14 days before the tour date, preferably sooner. This allows us to place orders with our suppliers, who may also need time to source ingredients from their own suppliers.

Unfortunately, we have a minimum catering order of 25 people.

Unfortunately, no. Coffee and/or tea must be ordered alongside sandwiches, brakfast bags and/or cake.

Yes, for a flat fee of 400 DKK + VAT, you are allowed to bring your own food and/or beverages on board.

Due to limited space on board, the restaurant boats do not provide glasses, plates, or other tableware. If you're bringing your own food, please remember to bring plates, glasses, bottle openers, and anything else you'll need to serve your food.

If catering is pre-ordered with Stromma, appropriate single-use tableware provided by our catering suppliers will be included.

You are welcome to enjoy a glass or two on board, but a "party tour," where the main focus is heavy alcohol consumption, is not allowed. We reserve the right to cut the tour short or deny boarding if guests are visibly intoxicated, do not follow staff instructions, or engage in behavior that endangers themselves, other guests, or Stromma's staff.

The boat will usually be ready at the agreed departure point about 10 minutes before the trip starts. If additional time is needed for decorating or other preparations, it must be included in the rental period and will be charged at the standard hourly rate.

If the catering is ordered through Stromma, we will handle the clean-up. If guests bring their own food and drinks, they are responsible for cleaning up. Clean-up must be completed within the agreed rental period, meaning the boat must be cleared when the rental period ends.

There is no toilet on the regular covered boats. However, there is a toilet on board our two restaurant boats (Klods Hans and Ole Lukøje), as well as on the electric boat (Den Lille Havfrue).

We are happy to arrange one of our regular jazz bands for a private jazz cruise. For other types of entertainment or guides, these are typically booked by the customer, but we are happy to recommend speakers who have previously worked on our boats.

Ordinary (non-electric) wheelchairs, like bicycles and prams, can be brought on board to a limited extent. However, since it's not currently possible to use a ramp between the boat and the dock, the wheelchair user must be able to navigate 4-5 steps to board, as well as additional steps depending on the departure point.

Important: For insurance reasons, our staff cannot carry or lift guests onto the boat. If assistance is needed, the wheelchair user must have someone to help them. Please note that Stromma cannot be held responsible in case of an evacuation situation.

There is limited space for larger luggage on the canal boats, but we can usually accommodate 2-3 bicycles or prams on the front deck. For safety reasons, larger items must be placed so they do not block the aisle.

Yes, calm and house-trained dogs are always welcome.

If you arrive by bus, we recommend starting the trip from our dock at Ved Stranden, where buses can usually drop guests off directly at the departure point.

Yes, you can connect a smartphone to the boat's sound system via Bluetooth. If you'd like to listen to music during the tour, please mention this when booking so we can ensure everything is set up before the trip.

Please note: Due to the dense construction around the canals, music can only be played when the boat is in the harbor area and only during the day.

Personal music systems, soundboxes, DJ setups, and similar equipment are not allowed on the boats.

Not all boats have power outlets. If you need power for equipment like an amplifier, please mention this when booking the boat.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide the captain's phone number. However, if you need to contact us on the day of the tour, you can reach us at our main number, +45 3296 3000, during office hours. For urgent matters outside office hours, such as changes or cancellations, please call the emergency number provided in your order confirmation.

When cancelling confirmed orders, the following applies:

More than 4 weeks before departure: No cancellation fee.
Between 4 and 2 weeks before departure: 50% of the boat hire will be invoiced.
Less than 2 weeks before departure: 100% of the boat hire will be invoiced.
Any catering expenses will also be invoiced if the cancellation deadline with our suppliers has passed.

Please note that changing the departure date is considered a cancellation, and the cancelled date will be invoiced according to our cancellation policy if it’s less than 4 weeks before departure.

Cancellations must be made in writing and are only complete when confirmed in writing by Stromma. The customer is responsible for ensuring the cancellation has been received by Stromma.

Minor changes (such as adjustments to start/end times, locations, or boat types) can be made if possible, but they incur a change fee of DKK 250 + VAT if made less than 8 days before departure.

Please inform Stromma's customer service of any changes as early as possible to increase the chances of successful implementation.
