Rosenborg Castle, a Renaissance masterpiece, dates back to the 17th century. It was built by King Christian IV, who used it as his summer residence and later chose it to be his final resting place. More than just a monarch, Christian IV was also a skilled architect and contributed significantly to the castle’s design.
The castle was transformed into a public museum in 1838, offering visitors a chronological tour through the history of the Danish royal family from the time of Christian IV. This was one of the first examples of such a museum concept in Europe.

Visit the King’s Garden
Right next to Rosenborg Castle is the beautiful King's Garden, the oldest and one of the most visited parks in Copenhagen. All over the park, you can find statues and sculptures, and in the summer months, make sure to visit the Rose Garden, featuring over 12,000 roses of various colors and varieties.
