A younger sister of the world-famous Hermitage in Saint Petersburg, the Hermitage-on-the-Amstel is one of Amsterdam’s most popular museums. Just one year after it opened, Hermitage Amsterdam was proud to receive its 1 millionth visitor. The Hermitage is located in a fabulous building, a former hospice, on the banks of the Amstel. The chapel, the regency room, the period kitchen and the stately classical façades have all been kept and restored to their former glory. The Hermitage museum’s collection alternates every six months, but each exhibit is as stunning as the last.
