At the museum you find extensive collections documenting Norwegian maritime history, maritime industries and coastal culture. The collections consist of objects, works of art, vessels, photographs, ship and boat drawings, private archives, maps, books and periodicals.
The museum works actively with vessel preservation and offers tours with both the Scandinavian Svanen from 1916 and the renaissance boat Vaaghals, a sailing replica of a wreck find in Bjørvika Oslo.
