Stavanger Maritime Museum
Stavanger Maritime Museum opened in 1926, and tells the seafarers’ history in this region. The museum is located in traditional fishing houses, and gives you the stories about life in the harbour. Experience life as it would be in the 1800’s. The museum is open for all ages. From the Cruise terminal, a 3 minutes walk.

Viking house
In Viking House, you can experience the local viking history in virtual reality (VR). This includes the sagas of Harald Fairhair, who unified Norway into one kingdom in 872. Here you will find souvenirs as handmade woodcraft. Viking House is right by Strandkaien.

Old Stavanger
This area is called Straen, (local slang for "The beach"). Here you will find the best preserved area of wooden houses in Northern Europe. This is Stavanger’s busiest tourist area and contains galleries, Norwegian Canning Museum and artisanal shops. From Straenkaien a 2 minutes walk.

Breiavatnet and the City Park
In the centre of Stavanger is Breiavatnet, a small lake surrounded by the town park. Here you can have a picnic, walk the dog or feed the ducks. You can also access the other side of the lake from this bus stop, leading you to Stavanger Cathedral. Walking around Breiavatnet will take about 20 minutes.

Stavanger Cathedral
The oldest church in Norway, probably built approx. 1100. The church suffered badly from a fire in 1272, but was rebuilt. King Christian V moved the diocese to Kristiansand in 1682, and the church was without a bishop until 1925.

Kiellandshagen
Right by Stavanger Cathedral is Kiellandshagen and the statue of Alexander Kielland. He was a famous author in the 1880s. The park was named Kiellandsparken because this is the exact location of his home.

Fargegaten
Tom Kjørsvik had an idea of bringing new life to a street that was empty, boring and mostly abandoned. He painted the houses in flashy colours, attracting tourists from all over the world. Today, a very popular street you should not miss. From the Norwegian Petroleum Museum, a 2-3 minutes walk.

Tollboden
The Customs building is a large waterside building situated at Skagenkaien in Stavanger harbour. It is impressive, built in 1905 by the architect Schak August Bull. In earlier times, this was a very busy spot with ships from all over the world loading on and off cargo. Today, a place for dining, entertainment and concerts.

About 9 minutes from St. Petri Church, find the St. Johannes Church. It was finished in 1909 og could then take 1150 visitors, today the number is only 700. The precious building in national romantic style is worth a visit.

Swords in Rock
Swords in Rock (Sverd i fjell) is a majestic monument located in the Hafrsfjord area of Stavanger, Norway. This impressive sculpture features three giant Viking swords (each about 10 meters tall) embedded in solid rock, symbolizing peace, unity, and freedom. The monument commemorates the historic Battle of Hafrsfjord in 872 AD, where King Harald Fairhair defeated the last regional kings of Norway to unify the country under one crown. The largest sword represents the victorious Harald Fairhair, while the two smaller swords represent the defeated petty kings. The swords are designed to be stuck in solid rock, symbolizing that they will never be removed, highlighting the lasting peace after the unification of Norway. Created by the renowned Norwegian sculptor Fritz Røed, the Swords in Rock was unveiled by King Olav V in 1983. This landmark has since become an iconic symbol of Stavanger and a popular tourist attraction. Stavanger Art Museum holds a collection of 2000 artworks from the 1800s until present. The museum shows Norway’s most important collection of Lars Hertervig, the most significant artist in Norwegian romantic landscape painting. The museum also have tapestries by Frida Hansen. If you are an art lover, this is the place. The bus stop is right by the museum.

Ledaal Herregård
Ledaal Herregård is owned by Stavanger Museum, and the building is a representation spot for the county and - not least - a royal residence. The building is from the early 1800s, and influenced by Danish 1700s architecture. The bus stops right beside.

Breidablikk Redervilla
Lars Berntsen was one of the wealthiest inhabitants of Stavanger in the late 1800s. He wanted a house just as prominent as the neighbouring Ledaal. He hired the renowned architect Henrik Nissen, and the precious house was finished in 1882. Owned today by Stavanger museum, the building is open for the public during summertime.
