Take a trip thousands of years back in time. Get to know how people lived in Rogaland in prehistoric times, through exhibitions, tours, games and activities.
Exhibitions
The exhibition "Export" brings you to the Viking Age! In the exhibition, you get to know rebel fighters, and you learn about the lives of six brave women from Rogaland.
In the exhibition "Meet Man" you will see skeletons from the museum's collections. There are stories about the 14-year-old Vistegutten who died once 8,200 years ago.
While you're at the museum, you must also say hello to the polar bear Finn from Finnøy, who lived in Rogaland a full 12,400 years ago! Take a trip to the Stone Age with our magical time machine, or be an archaeologist in the museum garden - can you find ancient treasures in the gutter?
Shop and cafe
In the museum shop you can buy copies of selected and prehistoric objects from Rogaland. You can see some of the originals on display at the museum.
The museum shop also offers toys, souvenirs and a wide selection of books and magazines.
Café Ask og Embla has plenty of space for families and prams, and we serve a good lunch, notes, cakes and drinks.
Discount on entrance
