If you are looking to book a Christmas party or dinner with your friends or colleagues it is probably time to start doing some research so that you can secure a date of your choice. We have listed a few different options that are suitable for both large and small groups, as well as corporate events. At the bottom of this page you can find a map with departure points for the boats and where in the archipelago the Christmas events take place.
Treat your friends or colleagues to a unique evening at Birka the Viking City, complete with Christmas buffet and live entertainment!
The night starts onboard the boat M/S Mälar Victoria as it departs from central Stockholm in the afternoon. Onboard you will enjoy the first part of the Christmas buffet with herring, salmon and cold cuts with accompanying drinks. When you arrive at Birka the Viking City you will take a guided walk with lit torches through the surroundings and enjoy a live fire show and warm apple mead. After the performance you will enter restaurant Särimner where you will continue to enjoy the rest of the Christmas buffet with warm dishes and dessert. The food is rustic and inspired by the Viking era. There will also be jester entertainment throughout the evening. As you travel back to Stockholm, the bar onboard M/S Mälar Victoria will be open and you can carry on the party!
Remember – Bring warm clothes and comfortable shoes as part of the evening is spent outdoors!
Available dates: Viking Christmas at Birka will take place on the 8, 9, 10 and 11 December and has a limited number of spaces so make sure to book in advance!
Historical Vaxholm’s Kastell offers a fantastic setting for a Christmas party. In the candle lit stone vaults you can enjoy a generous Christmas buffet with all classic Swedish Christmas dishes, as well as plenty of vegetarian options. If you want to make the most of the evening, make sure you book one of the fun team activities available, “Prisoners at the fortress” or “Team Challenge”.
In “Prisoners at the fortress” you will be divided in to teams of max 10 people each and complete challenges at different stations that you have to find via a treasure map. Some parts are done outside so make sure to bring warm clothes! In the “Team Challenge” you will focus on team work by solving six different puzzles at as many stations in teams of max 10 people each.
How to get here: When you book a Christmas dinner at Vaxholm’s Kastell you can also book return transport to and from central Stockholm or Vaxholm. On the way to Vaxholm’s Kastell you will enjoy mulled wine and gingerbread.
Tip - If you have a specific date in mind, make sure you make your reservation well in advance as the Christmas dining at Vaxholm’s Kastell is very popular and many guests reserve their preferred date months in advance.
A beloved tradition for many people is to enjoy a classic Christmas buffet onboard their very own archipelago ship. You can also decide the time of the cruise and route yourself, such as where you would like to be picked up and dropped off. You can also book live entertainment for your cruise.
