Going to Fjäderholmarna is a perfect option for a Midsummer in the archipelago, over a day. Fjäderholmarna is just a 30-minute boat ride from Stockholm. Here, a Midsummer celebration is organized on Friday, June 21. It will be a classic celebration with dancing around the maypole, a quiz, a fishing pond, and a coffee sale. The quiz starts at 1:00 PM and the Midsummer dance at 2:00 PM.

In Sandhamn, Sandhamn Seglarhotell sets up a wonderful Midsummer lunch. Traditional games and dancing for big and small, and the maypole is raised in the middle of the village on Adolfs torg at 3:00 PM. The Midsummer train with musicians and choir goes through the town.

On the archipelago island Grinda, you can eat a specially composed Midsummer menu at Grinda Wärdshus. On the meadow below, the maypole is dressed before it’s time for traditional dancing and singing. Between 9:00 AM-11:00 AM, you can pick flowers and tie your wreath. At 1:30 PM, the classic Midsummer celebration starts with entertainment by a troubadour and dancing around the maypole.

At Lägret in Vaxholm, the maypole is dressed from 2:00 PM. At 3:40 PM, the rings of the pole are carried in a parade from Söderhamnen to Lägret. Pole raising, dancing together with Waxholms folk dance guild, and traditional ring games start at 4:00 PM.
Eat a classic herring lunch at Waxholms Hotel. The food is served on a platter to the table and several kinds of herring, potatoes, and Västerbotten pie. Book a table in advance!
