The History of Ulriksdal Palace
Ulriksdal Palace was built in the 17th century in the late Renaissance style. The palace quickly became a popular destination for nobility and royalty and was often visited by Queen Christina. She appreciated it so much that she had her coronation procession depart from there in 1650. In the 18th century, Gustav III held outstanding parties at the palace. In the 19th century, Karl XV transformed the palace into a museum with antique furniture, porcelain, and art collections. King Gustaf VI Adolf and Queen Louise Mountbatten occupied the palace from 1923 and often lived there for the rest of their lives.
Things to do - Shopping, Dining & Swimming
During the day, there is also time for your discoveries. Take a stroll around the palace and have a closer look at King Gustaf VI Adolf's and Queen Louise's Mountbatten's living rooms or have a Swedish fika or lunch at the palace café. There are seating areas both indoors and outdoors in garden chairs overlooking the park. In the Palace Shop, you can browse and buy carefully selected items. Near the palace, there is a bathing jetty for those eager to swim. Here you will also find one of the world's oldest rococo theaters, the Palace Theatre Confidencen.
Ulriksdal Palace Gardens
Don't miss the popular Ulriksdal Palace Gardens, which are only a 10-minute walk from the Palace Park. Browse through the garden shop and explore the heart of the garden, Odlingen.
