Highlights and Attractions Along the Tour
Linnaeus’ Hammarby
One of Sweden’s best-preserved 18th-century farms, purchased by Carl Linnaeus in 1758 as a retreat from Uppsala’s environment. Here, Linnaeus’ personal life meets his scientific work. In the lush park, plants cultivated by Linnaeus still thrive, and from the hill above the estate, you can enjoy a view of the 18th-century landscape.
Skokloster Castle
An impressive castle by Lake Mälaren, Skokloster is Sweden’s largest private palace and one of Europe’s finest Baroque castles. Built between 1654 and 1676 by Carl Gustaf Wrangel during Sweden’s Age of Greatness, it is famous for its Baroque paintings, unique architecture, exquisite furnishings, and a glass chandelier from 1672.
Lennakatten
A 33-kilometer museum railway in Uppland, operated by historic steam engines, diesel locomotives, and railcars. Relive the early 1900s with the scent of coal, warm steam, rhythmic track joints, and beautiful views.
