The History of M/S Carl Michael Bellman
M/S Carl Michael Bellman was built in 1988 by Boghammar Marin AB and delivered to AB August Lindholm. It was a joyful ceremony where Lena Roedenbeck christened the ship. The ship did a two-day PR cruise to Eskilstuna and Västerås before being put into traffic between Stockholm and Drottningholm during the day and during the evening as a dance and shrimp boat.
After a few years, the ship changed its home to Gothenburg and Börjessons Restaurang & Utflyktsbåtar AB managed traffic between Lilla Bommen, Nya Älvsborgs Fästning and around Hisningen. In 1995 it was sold to Bore Lines AB and the home place remained Gothenburg. In 1999, Bore Lines AB changed its name to Strömma Turism & Sjöfart AB. Over the years, operation and staffing have been managed by several different companies, but since 2009, Stromma has been responsible for it.
Did you know that representatives from the Rettig family, owners of Strömma Turism & Sjöfart AB, attended the ceremony in 1988 when the ship was named?
