Food & Drinks at M/S Göteborg
The restaurateur at M/S Göteborg is the food creator Lotta Bäckström. All food served on board is prepared from scratch in the kitchen on board the boat, and the choice of ingredients is governed by the season. Lotta is passionate about good service, well-prepared food, and presenting the dishes in a beautiful way. Creative and tasty vegetarian and vegan dishes are also one of Lotta's specialties.
Together with our restaurateurs, Stromma works continuously to reduce our impact on the environment. In our restaurants, for example, we do not use single-use plastic, we only use environmentally friendly cleaning products, we only serve environmentally and fair-trade coffee and tea, etc. Please read more about our sustainability work.
M/S Göteborg is also available for rent for a traditional Christmas dining cruise.
The History of M/S Göteborg
The ship was ordered in 1914 by Skärgårds AB in Norrköping, and the following year it was completed as M/S Nya Skärgården. It served year-round between Norrköping and Valdemarsvik before being sold to Wermdö Ångfartygs AB and renamed M/S Thorsbyfjärd. Over the years it underwent several name changes, for example "Tor II" and "Tynningö."
After several changes of ownership and rebuilds, including motorization and installation of new main engines, she was named M/S Nya Skärgården again in 1994. After further rebuilds, she was once again in service and moved around in various ports.
In 2015, the boat was sold to Göteborgs & Bohusläns Rederi AB and then to Strömma Turism & Sjöfart AB in 2018. The following year, she was christened M/S Göteborg at a ceremony in Gothenburg.
Did you know that comedian and presenter Emma Knyckare was the one who christened M/S Göteborg 2018 at an event at Lilla Bommen in Gothenburg?
