Travel/drink arrangement: No licence for serving alcohol. If you charter the boat, it's allowed to bring own food and beverages.

  • The first Paddan sightseeing tour departed on the 15th of June in 1939. It was Gunnel Mattson, normally the owner to a travel agency in Göteborg, who had got a permission to install a small ticket kiosk on the east side of Kungsportsbron where she sold tickets to the Paddan tour.

    The first Paddan boat was a rebuilt “Kosterbåt”, a type of wooden boat originally used to sailing on the west coast which is named after the Koster Islands. Gunnel thought this boat looked like a toad when it lay on land with the bottom up. Padda is the Swedish word for toad so this is the origin of the name for the boats.

    1942 the first Paddan-boat that looks like the boats of our time got built. After this the fleet got a new boat almost every year. During the winter 1947-1948 Paddan 4 was built, the oldest Paddan boat that stills run in traffic in today’s fleet.

    Did you know...

    Already the tour guides at Paddan in the 1950 were known to guide about in a humorously way that wasn't to be seen anywhere else? But they were strictly forbidden to joke about Stockholm and its inhabitants, a prohibition that is repealed today.
