The world’s oceans have reached a tragic state, with plastic pollution being a serious problem for today’s coastal civilizations, marine animals, and ecosystems. Luckily, through awareness-raising campaigns we are seeing trends both when it comes to replacing plastic with biodegradable options as well as moving away from single-use products altogether. At Stromma we are continuously working with reducing our use of plastic.
Minimize use of plastic
Plastic cups - In its sustainability work in the restaurants, Stromma has taken further steps not mandated by KRAV certification, such as avoiding the use of plastic straws, minimizing the use of single-use plastic.
Headphones without wraps
Stromma Group has by purchasing 1,8 million headphones in bulk instead of individually wrapped in plastic, in secure compliance with all local and international regulations (RoHs/CE/WEEE), reduced our plastic consumption by 1 097 kg in 2019.
Test of new audio guide systems in Amsterdam & Stockholm
On the classic Amsterdam Canal Cruise our boats now feature the "Bring Your Own Device" audio system, aligning with Stromma’s sustainability goals. By default, the English audio guide plays through the speakers. But if you prefer another language, just scan the QR code onboard and connect to the audio guide and use your own headphones.
Also in Stockholm, we offer a sustainable solution for guided tours. On the Stockholm City Canal Tour our innovative app provides guidance in Swedish and English. You just simply download the app to your smartphone and start enjoying the sightseeing tour with your own headphones.
If those projects turn out well, we are looking forward to implementing this sustainable solution in all our destinations.
