Jens Nykvist is the restaurateur on board M/S Mälar Victoria. He has extensive experience as a chef and head chef both in Stockholm and in Champér, Switzerland. Jen's ambition is to create a pleasant and familiar atmosphere with committed service and rustic food prepared from local and carefully selected ingredients.
The restaurateur and we at Stromma work continuously together to reduce our impact on the environment. In our restaurants, for example, we do not use single-use plastic, we only use environmentally friendly cleaning products, we only serve environmentally and fair-traded coffee and tea, etc. Please read more about our sustainability work.
The History of M/S Mälar Victoria
M/S Mälar Victoria was ordered in 1982 and was completed and delivered by Boghammar Marin AB in 1984. The ship was christened at a ceremony by HRH Queen Silvia at Stadshuskajen in Stockholm on May 4 the same year it was completed. The ship made its maiden voyage on the route between Stockholm, Birka/Björkö, and Strängnäs on June 9, 1984, and continued to serve the same route until 1988. After that, M/S Mälar Victoria was sold to Modulföretagen Pidata AB in Stockholm and continued its traffic with the Ångfartygs AB Strömma Channel flag. In 2009, it received new main machines made by MTU.
Did you know that M/S Mälar Victoria was christened by HRH Queen Silvia in 1984 - however, the bottle was smashed against the ship on the eleventh attempt.
