The History of M/S Gustafsberg VII
In 1912, M/S Gustafsberg VII was built at Oskarshamn's Mekaniska Verkstad. The ship was built for Gustavsberg's Porslinsfabrik and designed to handle the narrow passages through the Baggenstäket between Stockholm and Gustavsberg. For 17 years, she served Stockholm-Gustavsberg before she was sold to Waxholmsbolaget where she was renamed Saxaren and began serving the Stockholm-Marum route.
In 1964, she ran aground and sank outside the jetty at Stor Kran. She was sold as a wreck and salvaged after a couple of months. With the help of Stiftelsen Skärgårdsbåten, Strömma Kanalbolaget bought her in 1973. She then underwent extensive restoration and rebuilding - and she regained her original name: M/S Gustafsberg VII.
